How old do I have to be to take CFSC/PAL course
Anyone at the age of 12 or older you can take the CFSC class and you can apply for Junior-PAL with parent or guardian consent. At the age of 18, your Junior PAL expires BUT you can apply for PAL without going through class or tests again.
How old do I have to be in order to apply for CRFSC/RPAL
You have to be 18 and you have to have the CFSC class completed together with the CRFSC class.
How difficult are the CFSC and CRFSC classes
The classes is not difficult but it does consist of a written and practical exam which requires 80% to pass. You will learn more about different firearms and ammunition but classes are focused on firearm safety, safety and safety - ACTS and PROVE
What is the maximum class size for firearms training at MyGuns?
We typically limit our class sizes to ensure personalized attention and quality instruction.
What selection of firearms are used in CFSC/CRFSC classes?
You will have the opportunity to handle a wide selection of Bolt, Lever, Semi-auto, Pump and Break action non-restricted firearms in the CFSC class. You will also have the opportunity to handle Single and Double Action revolvers, together with semi-automatic pistol in the CRFSC class.
How long will I wait for my PAL or RPAL
After you completed the course, you have to submit your application to the RCMP. The minimum wait period for a PAL is 28 days while the minimum wait period for RPAL is 45 days.
What other classes are offered by MyGuns?
We offer Introduction to Rifle Scope, Reloading classes, Alberta Hunting course and soon Introduction to Ballistic classe.
Do I need to renew my PAL or RPAL
YES - Your PAL or RPAL expires every 5 years on your birthday and needs to be renewed. It is highly recommended to start the renewal process 3-6 months before expiry AND it can be done on-line.
What do I need to do if my PAL or RPAL expired or lapsed
If you forgot to renew or decided not to renew BUT want to apply again, you do not need to do the PAL/RPAL course again. Just download the PAL/RPAL application from RCMP website and submit your application.
What other costs will I endure to get my PAL or RPAL?
Other than the cost of the CFSC and/or CRFSC classes, you will have the cost of a) ID fotos. b) Application for PAL/RPAL to RCMP. For online application, you will only pay for the application.
